We understand your individual concerns and potential risk factors affecting the longevity of your smile.

They take a comprehensive approach to your dental care, considering the health and function of your teeth, gums, and jaw joints. Identifying any underlying dental concerns or bite problems is key to providing lasting, comfortable dentistry.

We offer dental services for almost all of your oral health needs in a warm, welcoming environment. Our staff is dedicated to helping you enjoy the many benefits of good oral health and a comfortable smile. We offer patient-focused dentistry and take the time to educate you on how best to maintain a clean, healthy smile between visits.

What Is Complete Dentistry?

Most dentists focus on individual problems. A cavity here, a crown there. But if the underlying causes of those problems are not addressed, the same issues often recur.

Complete Dentistry takes a different approach. It looks at your entire chewing system: your teeth, your gums, and your jaw joints. It asks why a problem happened, not just what the problem is.

This is especially important for patients with:

  • Chronic headaches or jaw pain
  • Worn, cracked, or loose teeth
  • Teeth grinding (bruxism)
  • Bite problems or difficulty chewing
  • Restorations that keep failing

By identifying and treating the root cause, Dr. Dickert and Dr. Lynn help patients enjoy results that are stable, comfortable, and built to last.

Comprehensive Dental Care For A Lasting Smile

West Ashley Family Dentistry offers a full range of general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry treatments to meet all of your dental health needs. Our full menu of procedures can restore and maintain your oral health so that you can enjoy a lifelong healthy smile.

General Dentistry: The Foundation of a Healthy Smile

Preventive care is the cornerstone of long-term oral health. We recommend that patients of all ages visit us twice a year for:

  • Professional dental cleanings
  • Comprehensive oral exams
  • Periodontal (gum) screenings
  • Oral cancer screenings
  • Digital X-rays as needed

Regular visits allow us to catch small problems early, when treatment is simplest and most affordable. They also give us the chance to monitor your bite and jaw function. It’s an essential part of our Complete Dentistry approach.

Cosmetic Dentistry: A Smile You Will Love to Share

Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you. If you have been hiding yours because of stains, chips, gaps, or crooked teeth, cosmetic dentistry can help.

  • Porcelain Veneers: Thin, custom-made shells that cover the front of your teeth to correct discoloration, chips, gaps, and minor misalignment. Dr. Lynn and Dr. Dickert use high-quality materials and an artist’s eye to create natural-looking results.
  • Invisalign Clear Aligners: Straighten your teeth discreetly without metal braces. Invisalign uses a series of removable, nearly invisible aligners to gently shift your teeth into place.
  • Teeth Whitening: Professional whitening treatments that brighten your smile by several shades in about an hour, or with custom take-home trays.

All cosmetic treatments at West Ashley Family Dentistry begin with a thorough evaluation of your bite and jaw function. A beautiful smile should also be a comfortable, stable one.

Restorative Dentistry: Repair, Rebuild, Restore

If you are dealing with damaged or missing teeth, restorative dentistry can bring back the function and appearance of your smile.

  • Dental Crowns: Custom caps that cover and protect a damaged tooth, restoring its shape, strength, and appearance. With E4D CAD/CAM technology, we can often design and place your crown in a single visit.
  • Dental Bridges: Fill the gap left by one or more missing teeth, anchored to your natural teeth or dental implants.
  • Dental Implants: The gold standard for tooth replacement. Implants replace the tooth root, preserving jawbone and providing a permanent, natural-looking solution.
  • Dentures and Partials: Custom-fitted removable appliances to replace multiple missing teeth.
  • Periodontal therapy: We offer scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) to remove bacteria from below the gum line and help your gums heal. Early treatment can stop the progression of gum disease and protect your smile.

Our restorative work is always planned with your long-term oral health in mind. We look at how your teeth come together, how your jaw moves, and how to prevent future problems.

TMJ Therapy and Bite Management

Chronic headaches, jaw pain, and worn-down teeth are often signs of a bite problem or TMJ disorder. Because of their advanced Dawson Academy training, Dr. Dickert and Dr. Lynn are uniquely qualified to diagnose and treat these complex issues.

TMJ treatments may include:

  • Custom night guards to prevent grinding
  • Occlusal adjustments to balance your bite
  • Restorative work to rebuild worn teeth
  • Orthodontics to correct misalignment

If you have been living with unexplained head or jaw pain, don’t ignore it. We can help!

Sedation Dentistry in Charleston

Dental anxiety can often lead to poor oral health, which will eventually impact your overall health and well-being. West Ashley Family Dentistry offers sedation dentistry for an anxiety-free experience at the dentist. Dental sedation can help you regain a smile that looks and feels good, boosting your confidence and reducing the risk of tooth loss and other concerns.

If you have been avoiding the dentist, we welcome you to our Charleston dental office and will work with you on an individual basis to achieve your dental health goals and a beautiful, functional smile. Restoring your smile with appropriate dental care will also help you achieve the best possible quality of life.

The type of oral sedation we offer is laughing gas. Laughing gas is inhaled, making it easy to administer without needles. It is an odorless, fast-acting gas. As soon as you stop inhaling laughing gas, it will wear off quickly, making it possible for you to drive yourself home.
